Ciment Pleating Placement!

Just before christmas I visit Ciment Pleating in Potters Bar and done a weeks work placement! It was amazing! I learned so much about the process itself, the styles and how they work on different fabrics, the techniques behind folding, and the history behind the art.
I was amazed at the clients they were working with on a daily basis and previous clients, Lady Gaga, the Queen, Game of thrones, Victoria Beckham, Strictly come dancing. It was an amazing opportunity and I am so grateful for everything I learned and how welcoming the team were.

The pictures below are of a project completed for a window display in Harrods. We pleated thin copper mesh to be used to decorate a display. The copper doesn't need to be steamed like fabric because when it bends it hold its own shape, however it is really sharp! Easy to cut yourself on!

I was taught firstly how to fold a regular sunray pattern, mainly used for skirts, and dresses. It was large sun rays that were created for Strictly Come Dancing and Game of Thrones.
